Hello everyone, this is my first post, please be gentle with me! I've just got a new 3 ton trolley jack and hope the get my disco TD5 off the floor. Can anybody tell me if its acceptable to jack her up from the front and rear diffs? Or does anyone know a better way to get her up onto four axle stands. as its get dirty and check out whats going on underneath.

thanks Andy

The jacking point's for trolley jack's for the D1 are indeed under both Diff's, I'd imagine D2 is the same.

The jacking points when using the factory car jack are on the front and rear axle tie rods. There is a nick cut out in both of them to lacate the jack.

yeah but if you use them for the trolley you aint got room to put an axle stand in place with the jack still there.

Au contraire, that is exactly why I use this place as it leaves the axle completely clear and gives great access for placing the two axle stands under it.:D:D:D:D:D:D

The only problem I find with liftiing a Land Rover by the diffs is that when lifted the vehicle is lop sided but I still do it, much better on my other car with just a diff in the centre at the rear.
