Evening All,

Im in a bit of a quandry:confused:, and need input/opinions from you folks please,

At present I've got a 300tdi, manual, 3 door 'P' plate Disco, and really quite like it, apart from the 3 door bit, Find it a pain in the arse not having 5 doors, had Volvo estate before.

I wouldnt actaully be looking to sell my 3 door as I just put up with the inconvience normally, but my mate has offered me a 'J' Plate V8:), manual, 5 door Disco, which is in pretty solid nic, With LPG, 12mths ticket, 9mths tax for about the grand mark, Apart from the noise of the V8 and the fact that its a 5 door thats drawing me to it, its the fact that it doesnt have air bags to set off when I go out playing and I would give less of F**k about beating to bits. I'd also make a reasonable size profit on the tdi if I sold it.

Whats peoples general opinion?

Cheers

SFB

When I looked at LPG cars, they either had tanks in the boot, or near the sills. Both locations are not ideal, for different reasons. I think the best place is at the back underfloor with a little tank for petrol alongside, ie it replaces the main petrol tank rather than a second tank. Also, make sure its a professional conversion and is certified/inspected - pretty much all insurance companies insist on it.

Having said that, after looking at a lot of them, I bought a diesel.

I actually prefer the Disco 3 door, for looks.

Hi Paul, This has twin under floor tanks which I know Would need moving or protecting if I were to do some more serious off roading. As far as I know its got the cerificate with it for the LPG.

Dont get me wrong, I think the 3 door looks a dam site better than the 5 door, but its just the practicalities that drive me nuts, 7 seats and 3 doors?? Nightmare! Lol!

Nothing wrong with sill tanks, if your that worried lift the body 2 inches or so to bring them level with the chassis, get rock sliders and make some custom guards that bolt onto the chassis and onto the rock sliders, then they're out of the way and you have something that protects the sills aswell. ;).

Am planning on doing something similar with ours, but I wont bother lifting the body, if anything I will make them curved so that they still go from chassis to either rock sliders (if we get them) or to the sills and still protect the tanks.

Cool, Yeah sounds like a good plan to me, Im liking the idea of the V8 more and more, might go and have better poke round it tomorrow arvo, and have a decent drive of her?

No,

Did I say anything about the road ,

No,

Off road, yes (there was no age limit regarding private land that you have permission to be on that I knew of), this is why I want to make some guards for the tanks - so they dont get smashed up, if it was for road only - wouldn't bother, infact if it was for the road only we wouldn't own a Landy...

I was merely inputting my opinion in regard to the use of them off road, there are others on here who can, and I have no doubt will, input their opinion of them on road.
