hi guys done the leak test on my front air bags, theres no pin holes and the only bubbles i see are around the base of the bags, can they become unseated, can i re-seat them or am i going to have to tell the misses that new coat is going to have to wait![]()
My old dunlop OEM airbags fit to the base just like a tyre to a rim, so I would think they can become unseated, but it sounds like the bags are shot from your description as when the bag comes away from the base, you do not get bubbles as there is no pressure at all!
Are you sure Data, the ones i removed from the rear of mine a few months ago looked pretty well stuck on there with something other than good will. Surley if they were just forced over a boss to sit in a undercut, on full extension, unlike a tyre were the are pressure forces the tyre into contact with the rim, pressure would force the bag out of the undercut. Unless it was bonded to it. If i still have my old ones i'll put them through the band saw and have a look.![]()
One of mine actually popped off, also I have seen just the bladders for sale to fit to old parts. I think they stay put because they fold under which means the inner part of the fold is pressed against the base. I didn't like the look of them so I bought Arnott Gen 2's which are crimped.
Ok you are correct, had a look around and found a Aussie bloke who advertises just the tubes. You live and learn.
cheers lads two new airbags on the way, just got to fit em now,any tips much appreciated.cheers
had both my front ones pop off while changing shock absorbers, bit of fairey liquid around the spigot and bladder push back together still fine that was 2 years ago nowMerci beaucoupLike tyres, there does seem to be some gummy stuff around the bead, I think it's a smear of the stuff they use to ease tyres on.
