Td4 new owner and new to site.Blue smoke on startup.

Hi, Blue smoke would indicate to me oil burning from cold, Could be valve stem seals allowing a little oil to seep into the cylinders when parked up but as mentioned above it could be a blocked breather but thought that would smoke more when warmed up? make sure they sort it when you take it...

    Broken bracket

Hi mate, the bracket is an easy bolt off bolt new one on parts, as long as the slave cylinder wasn't damaged should be a 20min job with sockets and spammers. Readily available on eBay for around £8.00, if the slave cylinder has been damaged the you have to replace the slave and master as they...

    still chasing brake problem

The vacuum pump has been replaced, was the first thing done, there is shed loads of vacuum. There is no spongy peddal and the pedal barely moves at all when pressed, It is the same as when you stall a car and try and brake, no power assistance. you have to stand on the brakes to get it to stop...

    still chasing brake problem

It has been bled through with new fluid twice ant the pedal is nice and solid. I did a little test earlier I got the freelander up to speed on an industrial estate and switched the engine off, the brakes were exactly the same so I think the servo Is the culprit and tonight the peal has almost...

    still chasing brake problem

Just replaced the disks and a minor improvement but still no power to them, Have pulled the vacuum hose of the booster and it sucks to my hand and takes a fair bit of force to pull it off again so I think the only possible thing can be the brake booster....

    still chasing brake problem

Hi guys thanks for the replys there are no master cylinder symptoms the pedal stays nice and hard with no sinking, I already greased up the sliding pins but they were pretty good anyway. The pads were bought from a 4x4 specialist locally so should at least be able to stop the freelander. The new...

EGR bypass just fitted.....possibly wrong though

LOL! Reply's are coming like Like buses! Thanks for all the advice it's just nice to know there are people out there even if the answers are not known. I am not worried about it getting sucked into the manifold as it's a pretty hefty blanking plate and it should only be heated by heat transfer...

Help Please am i being conned ? freelancer

If they replaced the head gasket and the timing belt they should have replaced the tensioner, if the reason for the belt snapping was the tensioner then it depends on how long ago the work was done. If it was a few weeks ago as you say and the car was already using water again then I would...

New disc and pad swap, cant move wheel!

The only way I can think this would work is if he had originally solid disks and pads, then fitted vented disks along with new pads meant for solid disks? Don't you just hate it when people come on forums asking for advice and then you never here what the outcome was

    Clutch "issues

After the huge response to my thread (LOL!) thought I would update, I spent the last few days lubing the release arm and so far I have had no clutch slip what so ever so fingers crossed it was just due to standing for so long. EGR blanking plate is on it's way and new air filter as the...
