    defenders on the road

Drive my defender every single day, wind, snow, rain and shine, on road and off, it's noisy, cold and damp but i love it and wouldn't even consider another car, get it, best move you'll ever make.

    "malta" defender heaven

Hi pip was there last year in Mellieha and have to agree, seems to be more Landys per square mile than anywhere i've ever known, some of them are even left overs from WW2 and still going strong!

    Fitting chequerplate, just rivet?

Hi I fitted CP to the bonnet of my Defender for the same reason, needed a stable platform to stand on to access the roof rack. I fitted mammouth CP 3mm thick and comes with counter sunk and drilled holes, good quality but not the cheapest, I cleaned the bonnet with good quality wax then...

    A Cautionary Tale!

Yes I've found that out to my expense, there are a lot better out there when it comes to landy's I'm certainly going to be shopping around next month when mine is due for renewal.

    A Cautionary Tale!

£6940! would anyone seriously pay that! I'm truly getting fed up with continually being ripped off by insurers, used to think Direct Line was OK but it really P***** me of when they stuck an extra £70 on my policy when I changed the suspension and that was just the start of it, there's a 23yr...

    A Cautionary Tale!

Hi Yes i agree, like you my car is nowhere near a main road and also in one of the least at risk post codes in the country, all the mod's I've done to my TD5 have all been declared to Direct Line most of which would actually help in preventing damage such as rock sliders, belly pan...

    A Cautionary Tale!

Totally agree with you Lynall, a mate of mine has done loads of mods to his landy and hasn't bothered to inform his insurer, The way I looked at though is that i'd be a real mug increasing my BHP from circa 122bhp to potentially over 200bhp and not telling them, their always looking for excuses...

    A Cautionary Tale!

I've recently been looking at having my Land rover TD5 tuned but before making my final decision decided to contact my insurance company to see how this would affect my premium, my Insurance company (Direct Line) wouldn't touch me with a barge pole, neither would two others I rang, when i...

    REBEL Tubular Winch Bumper

Thanks Matt I ended up going to First Four and like you said they were brilliant, bumper is spot on to, the woman I spoke to about my enquiry at Rebel couldn't even be bothered to get back to me, says it all really!

    Defender power upgrade

Has anybody done a power upgrade on their Defender TD5, using the power upgrade chip? Was it any good? Were there any downsides to doing it?

    Recovery Points

Thanks guys I want two secure points at the back of the vehicle for recovery, pulling friends out of the mud mainly, I intended to use the points that are already there but was advised that jate rings are safer and better suited to the purpose, my only other option was to look at some sort of...

    Recovery Points

Can the two recovery eyes underneath at the rear of my defender be used for pulling the vehicle if it gets stuck or should they be swapped for jate rings? Someone told me the two original eyes at the back were only designed for security in transit, if they need changing how do I attach the new...

    90 suspension what to do

Fitted Terrafirma medium duty 2" lift to my Defender, cranked trailing arms and radius correction, when the job was finished I ended up with vibration and a rattle that seemed to be coming from the transfer box, ended up shelling out for front double cardon prop and rear wide angle prop, cured...

    Winch Power??

I am intending to fit a Superwinch to My Landrover defender, the winch has a 4.5hp electric motor, I was told by a friend at work that it would be a good idea to fit a second battery, is this necessary? If so would i need to fit an uprated Alternator, cheers

    REBEL Tubular Winch Bumper

The spec for the Terrafima bumper says that the lower section and plastic grill needs to be cut in order for the winch to be attached, just not sure how much cutting is required.

    Help With Gearbox Noise

I agree with pickup90, was having exactly the same problem as him, I've gone the whole hog, double cardon prop on the front and wide angle on the back, its like driving a different car now and the problem is sorted, I got the kit from Devon 4x4.

    REBEL Tubular Winch Bumper

Has anyone fitted the rebel Tubular winch bumper? If so how did they rate it? Been looking at this one compared to the Terrafirma one, Terrafirma requires a bit of cutting whereas the Rebel one doesn't.
