Thanks for your replies, I sourced a new sump and managed to get it passed the pick up pipe by lowering the axle and bringing it forward.

Just discovered an engine oil leak after jacking the rear of my discovery 1 for spring replacement and noticed a puddle of oil under the engine and discovered a rusted hole in the sump. Any chance the sump is removable with the engine in place?

i made a mistake he is trading. A very helpfull guy. Unfortunatelly he didn't have a 2.8 diff. So if anyone has one, post up here please.

Crowndiffs don't exist , at least there phone doesn't work, can't get a response. Is there anyone else that can do a similar 2.8:1 ratio diff ???

They were never fitted as standard, the car has a tiny trans tunnel, not realy enough space to fit one. The diff change would be the way to go. Thanks

Thanks for that but it's for a rover p5b as I beleive they are the same as the early range rovers. So only one Diff.

Thanks for the replies. I need to reduce engine rpm for motorway cruising, engine will be upgraded to 4.0 litre. The standard diff is 3.54 so not to much of a change

Hi to all on this great site. I'm in search for a 2.8:1 Ratio differential from an early Range Rover. Apparently they were made by a company Kam Diffs to reduce engine RPM where larger engines have been fitted Kam Diffs no longer manufacture these retro fit units , so if any one has a usable one...

Actually it's a picture from the web. Mine will look the same, just completed the welding and about to be sprayed up. Desperately need the 2.8:1 ratio diff though.
