Thanks for your help guys - the idea of trying to fill an already half-full tank due to a faulty sender is a good one! I was using the petrol pump at full speed also. Anyway, I'll get the sender off and have a look. Thanks again!

Thanks, understand the point about the sender unit; but the manual says the tank is 10 gallons which would be about 45 litres.That's at least £50 at todays inflated prices...I will have to check the sender I guess. At least I dont smoke.....!

Hi, I am new to Series ownership, before my 1979 88" station wagon I had a 90, and we have a Disco II. When I try to fill up my series III (petrol) it will only take £30 of petrol before the fuel comes up through the breather hole and the neck fills up. With £30 of petrol in, the gauge shows 1/3...
