im after making a raised air intake for mi series 3 landrover , im thinking do away with the oil bath filter, use a k&n few bits of silicone hose and sum alloy tub, how do i connect it do i just go of the carb or is there another way ?
Thanks for replies, I suppose its a case of is the corrosion going to damage the seals or new seals on a refurb. Re chroming doesn't seem worth it I like the idea of varnishing and could perhaps see that working.
I thinks mine have had it very corroded, I was wondering if anyone has had them re chromed, or isn't it worth it. Has anyone tried any ways of refurbing them.
Yeah that does help I've just fitted a new gaitor to mine couldn't remeber which way it went back on thanks. Still not sure about how the free wheeling hub caps come off.
Tried removing the free wheeling hub caps to start stripping down the front axle of my series 3, I've took out the single screw which I thought would allow it to be pulled off but it won't budge, does it just need some persuasion or is there more to it than that, my manual doesn't cover free...
Thanks for that. The props are off as it's a reburb I did wonder if they split but didn't want to risk messing until I knew what I was doing. Cheers much appreciated.
Fitting new rubber gaitors to my prop shafts, how do you get them on as they seem too tight to stretch over the UJ's, do you have to dismantle the UJ, or is there an easy way of doing it.
Thanks for your reply I too like the idea of the galvanised look. who are Ashtree I've Googled them but can't find them. Someones painted my galvanused bits black and I'd be interested to know how much a new galvanised bulkhead is as well. Cheers John
Its a SWB and cost just short of £1100, paid an extra £30 for an un boltable cross member which allows the gear box to be dropped out instead of lifting it through the floor worth the extra in my opinion it's called the North American version for some reason and allows twin fuel tanks to be...
Just got a replacement galvanised chassis for my series III from Marslands, I quite like the look of it as it is and am tempted to rebuild it un painted, am I missing a trick by not painting it. Opinions please.
Currently rebuilding my Series III onto a new chassis someone told me to fir Pro Comp shockers, the problem is it's going to cost me about £80 more than fitting standard shockers, are they a worth the extra as I'm on a tight budget.
It's an 88 petrol, body panels in good nick, but chassis knacked, had it running and sounds sweet enough. Don't know about the gearbox or axles but apparently it ran alright except for jumping out of second.
I think these are original wheels, just bought an 84 series III and it has the same wheels the only problem is mine only has three on plus the spare which is different
Bought a series three to rebuild as a father/son project, new chassis coming on Thursday. Somthing I've always wanted to do I. Think I might be asking a lot of questions soon.
