Hi guys, This damn "clunking" noise is still happening, all the 3 rear diff mountings have now been replaced along with the rear prop inc VCU. This irritating clunk only happens when the auto box is going up gear from 2nd to 3rd gear, not normally downgear but it does not happen all of the time...

Thanks for all your comments, but the rear diff mounts have already been replaced along with the VCU and new rear prop shaft quite recently. Nodge 68 you said it may be the lower engine tie bar gone soft, whereabouts is this and how to I know if it need replacing and is this like an engine...

Its when I turn sharply round corners i was getting a "clunking" sound, which was caused when the centre mount rubber split in the middle causing a lot of play in the diff and rear axle. Yes, the mount just replaced was from Landrover, so is a quailty part. I shall just see how this 3rd one now...

No, I don't know anyone else with a Freelander to change wheels over. I have already had the Z mounting changed which is between the prop and diff but it had gone anyway, so I will let the forum know later in the week with the findings. Thanks

Grayo, The tyres on mine are 2 Bridgestone on the front wheels and Nexen on both rear wheels, although I had never heard of Nexon, I have just searched the net and they come up as a half decent tyre from South Korea. Can this mismatch of tyres cause my vibration/rumbling noise at speed?

Yes it still has the VCU. I have just checked the mechanic's invoice and its got Z mounting not bush. Does that make any sense?
