Checked the oil levels in the axles. Applied grease to prop shaft. Then went for a drive. I think the thermostat is sticking. I need to replace the coolant so I will do it then. Oil change tomorrow if it is dry and not too cold......

I am in the process of replacing my towing bracket on my Discovery 1. I need to replace the bolts and was wondering what type I should use? Stainless, high tensile, etc? I cannot get any codes off the old bolts as I had to knacker them when removing the bracket. I know I should have checked...

I did mine a few months ago (it wasn't raining then). I took some pictures of the mechanism for reference just in case I got stuck when putting it all back. Getting the spring in was a bit fiddly. I am now waiting for one of the other doors to go...:doh:

Are the driver/passenger and rear seat mountings common between the 300 series Discos? I am thinking of getting some leather seats from a scrapper and don't want to find out that they don't fit! Ta!

The latest thing to go on the Discovery is the pipe that holds the dip stick! It just snapped just above the mounting bracket. Does any one know the Land Rover part number? It is for a 1996 300TDi.

Got it tested, it was the rectifier/regulator. A new one was only £30 more than getting if fixed, so I have a nice shiny alternator bolted in and working!

For info, and this did catch me out, the rear wipers will not work if a door is open. Also, the headlight wash only works when the lights are on.

I think my alternator has failed. While driving the battery warning light came on then started flickering, also the rev counter stopped working. I have checked the connections and all looks well. I have also checked the 100A fuse. I have now removed the unit from the vehicle, any ideas on how...

I snapped my drain plug handle today! Then chickened out taking the whole thing off. I will have another go now that I have read most of the posts here, thanks!

Filters and oil change. Snapped the drain plug handle off my fuel sedimenter, a new one needed I suppose? Off roading tomorrow, I wonder what will drop off?
