Regret buying it, but then again I have the normal 2L Turbo Rover engine and it is an endless money pit. Just the spares to keep it on the road is so expensive at the local stealers here in South Africa. Would most probably be more happy if I had bought a TD4.

No joking, my honest opinion. Haven't met one Freelander owner who doesn't say that the freelander is an endless money pit.

Unless you can buy the freelander2, rather try and buy a defender, freelander is ****, full of endless problems, ask any freelander owner that is not lying to themselves and they will confirm this.

Hi Sue1962, Have you checked to see if there is any water on your dipstick when you check the oil? In other words is there a slight rainbow colour showing on your dipstick. If there is it could be your cars head gasket that has blown.

The XEDI is still a Rover engin and is a very good one at that. In my opinion much better than the TD4. Hallo people on the other side of the world. You don't know what expensive is. Us here in South Africa are paying R7.66 for a liter of diesel and R7.85 for Petrol, as if this isn't bad enough just multiply that with 14 and you get what we are paying for it in pounds.
