Series 2 or 3? The generic gaiter for the transfer lever is the wrong shape for pre 1968 models and bunches up in front of the lever when in high range. This can sometimes prevent the lever from going all the way forwards, it can then creep out of gear. Peter

It would certainly be a factor as the halfshaft would move about in relationship to the seal. More likely in land rovers because it is an oil seal not a grease sealbas in a car. Peter

Having now looked at some of the photos it is definitely MOD you can see the NATO trailer socket on the rear panel and so the fuel filler should be under a seat. It probably started life with a full canvas tilt. Peter

They are better than the round than the round ones unless you fit a Clayton core. They all work better if you bend the fan blades a bit. The T7 square heater comes well recommended at about £130 new. Peter

There are several variations on that panel with holes in different places and different sizes but they crop up on eBay quite often and the prices can be reasonable, but they can also be silly money. Just bide your time and keep watching. Good luck Peter

The spire speed screws that hold the floor down respond to a farly hefty clout on the head beforectrying to undo. They undo easier than normal nuts annd bolts. When putting things back use plenty of copprr grease and any future work will be much easier. Peter

Not a solution to your problem but a bodgevwhenbthe hinges wear is to cut the ball in half and put a couple of washers between the 2 halves. I have had to do this on one of the front door hinges on my series 2. It makes all the difference. Peter
