I had an issue where the light kept going out because the bulb fitting is rubbish. a bit of copper grease to aid contact worked a treat.

My dad told me that you can check which one is noisy by putting a long screwdriver to your ear and putting it on the tappets in order. Also works with fuel injectors apparently. Haven't tried it myself but i'd be interested to hear whether anyone else has found it to work.

The switch is the yellow one on the gear stick. You can slip off the rubber gaitor and check that the wires are connected to the switch. if you still have no joy, might be worth checking the codes for where to go, or take the bulbs out of the dash :)

I had HGF on my LR at about 100K, think it was the first time. I changed the gasket, bolts and fitted the PRRT and, crucially, the oil rail. I think that most of the successive failures are where the oil rail isn't done, as this stiffens the engine up and stops it happening. No issues since, it...

A good sign to look for on rear tyres is a pronounced ramp where the rear tyres are going faster than the rear and are being dragged round. Don't have any photos but you'll know it when you see it. If the VCU is over 70K and hasn't been changed then expect it to be duff. £250 for a recon. unit...

I suspect the mechanic diagnosed that it was a hippo and a leaking head gasket is a pretty good bet, whether it cures the fault or not. Pretty easy job, took me a day's work including getting the head skimmed, and about £150. Buy decent parts and replace the oil rail which goes in the sump. A...

Have the same problem here, I wondered whether it's worth trying to change the bearings but as a replacement gearbox is only ~£100 probably not worth it.

Did you change the oil rail and fit the PRRT the first time around?

I am currently experiencing the same issue - feels like it's hesitating as if it's not advancing and at higher revs it takes off. Recently change the leads and thought that cured it but it hasn't. I'm now suspecting that it's a blocked injector or another fueling sensor type issue.

Having the same issue - seen some stuff about replacing with a maplins servo but it all seems pointless when you can replace with another part for £35. I've personally opted for a new one and i'll be getting a passenger side one soon as well probably. Surprisingly simple to do except removing...

get a large slide hammer on it and make sure all of the bolts are undone - there are about 86 and they're mainly located in silly places that you can't see and need to be Mr Tickle to reach.

It doesn't surprise me - i've been saying for years that with £200 worth of mods the K series engine can be cured of it's HG failing ways and if you want a cheap runaround then it actually makes financial sense to have one. Might be worth getting a compression test done on it to test for HGF...

I'm on 115K, the head went a little while ago but that was simple enough to fix. Removed VCU, sunroof broken, central locking on it's way out, three amigos on, gearbox is rattling like a bag of spanners and it's hesitating so i'm guessing injector or suchlike. On the whole i've enjoyed owning it...

I had this - it was a blown fuse - number 16 I think. Check them all out, quite simple.

It using water could well be a sign of impending HGF, keep a close eye on it and change it at the first hint of trouble. I found that mine was sporadically using water beforehand. Make sure you change the oil rail and fit the PRRT too, this will make it much less likely to happen in future.
