The belt kit I fitted wasn't britpart, wasn't gen. LR o/e/m either. The garage has fitted genuine belt kit now though.

I fitted a new timing belt on my '96 300tdi a couple of weeks ago. Searched out all the relevant threads, loads of good info on here, bought a kit and got the spanners out. Simple enough job, four hours and it was all back together and running as sweet as ever. A couple of days ago on the way...

in that case, the rockers definitely weren't moving so it seems that the belt has broken. I cant get it in my garage, and a repair like that is too much to tackle outside in this weather so I'll let the arrangement stand with the collection to a local repairer. 'broken some of the valve gear'...

.My '96 300tdi has just died. As I pulled away from a set of lights, there was a slight lurch as the engine died ( it felt as if it had dropped out of gear) so I coasted it to the side of the road. It turns on the starter but makes no attempt to fire. Fortunately, I was only 100 yards from home...

Thanks discool, I'll give it a whirl tomorrow afternoon. Assuming I get it to work in unison with the other actuators, what you reckon about the broken/missing spring theory? Or is the fact that it wont lift the button enough to unlock the door due to the actuator being old and tired? Cheers

Unlocked the landy this morning with the remote but found I couldn't get into the tailgate. The lock button seemed to be going up and down with the remote, just wasnt lifting it quite far enough to unlock so had to hlod the tailgate lock open with the key while I pulled the handle or go in over...

Having just re-read your reply Owl, I need to ask 'what amp?' I did read a thread on this relating to a jap spec disco which had a new head unit fitted but ran through an O/E fitted amp for the original LR head unit which needed bypassing, but this seemed only to apply to jap disco's, not UK...

Thanks for those pointers but already tried. The radio that was in the disco when I bought it had the same issue and, after changing the radio with no improvement, I fitted a completely new antenna with new coax and connections. Made no difference :(.

Posted a short while back with an issue over radio interference in my '97 300tdi from window motors/wipers etc. Got some great feedback and advice but the problem will not go away. I have run a clean wire direct from the battery to the radio power lead, and another to the memory back up...

I have found a thread for repairing a 200tdi pump but nothing for the 300 and the PAS pump on my 300tdi is leaking badly from what seems to be the mating faces. I have found a seal kit at Paddocks but it looks to be just a seal ans a large O ring. I haven't taken the pump off yet so not sure how...
