3 inch dia circle of oil on the floor after a few minutes is a fail, but if it dripped on the testers head you are going to fail!
I hate mots, not the pass/fail bit just the bloody inconvenience, and I say that as someone who gets approx 40...
Looking at the diagram, you realise how electrically dubious the stock wiring on a Series is! Half the circuits are protected by only three fuses, and the other half aren't protected at all. And no sign of any relays to take the load off the...
Figures show [ forget where I saw them ] that Series and Defenders have one of the lowest level of fatal and serious injury numbers for accidents on the road. It is just not the strong chassis but the fact it is not a fast vehicle and is...
They do tend to rattle a bit when testing in landy without load through the gears with no prop connected but once on the road mine was ok after rebuilt gearbox.
You should be able to select gears and turn brake drum gearbox off engine
The bulb is no 15 and you might be able to measure continuity across the thin wires at ballast resistor to see if it’s blown, have you the original wired in series pigtails or newer parallel heater plugs

That one. The ring terminal going into the starter itself will spin the engine over if you put a jump Lead onto from the battery. I would favour bump starting if it was not a 19j. My 200tdi takes so little to start that I can get it loving...
Solenoid just a switch , put battery live lead direct to the one coming out of starter or have a couple of heavy duty/ jump flying leads connected to the two lead ends and into cab and join there to engage starter
Cheers, it’s had four new General Grabbers yesterday and flew through MOT today without a single advisory. Garage said emissions really low and chassis solid. Happy Days!
