well the fluid that came out was brown so I guess thats what has happened. I will be getting rid of it then.

Got 5 litres dextron 3 today, will drain the box tomorrow and check the filter.

Ran my 300tdi on 100% veg oil in summer with no problems, only started to have issues when the weather cooled down.

excellent, i knew i had read about bypassing the heater somewhere.

yes its coolant, had to put about 2 litres in a day to keep it topped up while on hols in Scarborough.
