Thanks @jamesmartin I really appreciate the response.
These 593681 stub axles are £350 each per side. Can I get away with using a different & cheaper stub axle with the hub? Like FRC8005 for example?

So I've found what appears to be a serial number on the axle: https://ibb.co/jFwGnq
Can anyone ID the axle from this number? I've tried googling with no joy. The prefix seems to be 355 which I can't find anywhere.

Sorry, I'm still struggling with this.
The diff-side of the FTC950 stub axle (pic here: https://www.shop4autoparts.net/parts/axle-suspension/ftc950-stub-axle-oem/) has an additional spigot that my stub axle doesn't have. This is a photo of the diff-side of my stub axle: https://ibb.co/j8SGiV...

Thanks for the replies, really helpful.
Here are a bunch of photos of the axle and stub axle:

It's a thick flange, 10 spline, fixed half-shaft.

Good idea, thanks :) I'll grab some photos of the flange and stub axle tomorrow in daylight.
I did think it was an early Disco 1 axle, since that would match up with the engine. But the stub axle has thrown me, because it's the notched type which only seems to be found on front axles.

Hey all
I'm having issues with a leaky rear inner hub seal on my 1986 Defender 90. However, the vehicle was heavily modded before I bought it and I'm struggling to work out which axle I have, and hence which parts to order. I need to buy new stub axles, seals, gaskets, bearings and so on.

Just when you thought this thread was done...
So it seems I have some oddball hubs too. Anyone able to ID these? I can't find anything similar, with the recessed nuts.

Brilliant, thanks so much James - you always have the answers! :)

Sorry should have been more specific - I have already bought RTC4999 and RTC4998 calipers (the old ones were properly seized). I just want to make sure they're the right ones.

Thanks James, I think that's the ticket for the swivel.
Just got to figure out the brakes next. They look like RTC4999 and RTC4998. Would that make sense, given that the previous owner wouldn't have wanted to put ABS calipers on it?

No worries Marmaduke. I've got it all here in front of me and it's pretty confusing!
Reckon I have a total mix of stuff on this axle because the brake calipers look like RTC4999 and RTC4998 :/

Luckily I am blessed with a big garage, I wouldn't consider it without.
The main thing stopping me is the fact that my truck would be off the road for ages.
Kudos to going for it. I'm going to follow this thread :)

Thanks for the quick replies guys.
It is a 24 spline halfshaft.
The DA3167P kit is the one that I bought, which seems quite different from the original.

Think I may have half-sussed it. I think this could be the swivel pin http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-STC226
Discovery 1 with ABS. Weird thing is, the truck doesn't have ABS.
