    Td5 Starting problem!!

No it always turned over, just the engine did not fire up, due to a knackered Crank sensor which I believe was caused by fuel leaking from the pressure regulator on to it. The leaking regulator threw me out because the fuel pump got very noisy due to air in the system.

    Td5 Starting problem!!

Check the fuel pressure regulator is not leaking, same side as the dip stick right at the back of the head, mine was peeing out of there and the fuel contaminated my crankshaft position sensor causing it not to start. If you take a look underneath on the drivers side, if it's leaking fuel you...

Loss of power, broke down now wont start

Fery, Thanks for your input and diagnoses, absolutely spot on. It was the crank shaft pressure sensor after all, ordered a second hand unit just to see if it was at fault, just ordered a brand new on and my second hand unit will serve as a spare. Once again thanks for your time

Loss of power, broke down now wont start

How difficult is it to get at that crankshaft position sensor? finally got it out and it was well shi**ed up with fuel and crud, gave it a clean and its still the same just cranking over. Got a replacement on order anyhow, not got a compliant reader to check fault codes, is there anyone...

Loss of power, broke down now wont start

Good afternoon, I have a 1999 TD5 Land Rover Discovery 2 that broke down on me on holiday and now refuses to start. The fuel pump got quite noisy and the sediment warning light came on, lost all power soon after and the engine cut out. I replaced the fuel filter and purged the fuel...

    2000 D2 TD5 Manual, Gearbox oil everywhere!

Thanks, the gearbox one was off its mounting clip and was hanging lower than the rest, all sorted now apart from changing the rest of the oils before we head off to Brittany in 2 weeks.

    2000 D2 TD5 Manual, Gearbox oil everywhere!

Thanks I'll check it out, not been wading as such but had a lot of rain in Dorset over the winter, am I correct in saying that there are two breathers on the drivers side of the engine bay? Do they have any valve on the top or should they just be clear?

    2000 D2 TD5 Manual, Gearbox oil everywhere!

Just for closure, I have sorted it out. Do not use anything else apart from the recommended transmission fluid! I drained the crap that the dodgy motor craptures sold me. Bought 3 litres of MTF 94 from GSF. Struggled a little getting it in on my back using the 1 lt bottles with a spout...

    2000 D2 TD5 Manual, Gearbox oil everywhere!

Hi checked all levels and I found the transfer box was ok and need no topping up however the gearbox was a different matter. The oil was emulsified and looked creamy, like it had been mixed with water, it was low by about 700ml, it seems that it may of spurted out up the breather pipes around...

    2000 D2 TD5 Manual, Gearbox oil everywhere!

Looking for help in Liverpool, drove up from Dorset today with no issues apart from when i was unloading i noticed oil splattered over the rear of the vehicle, checked underneath and there is oil all over the place in and around the area of the gearbox, my gut feeling is that it is transfer box...
