Mystery of the vanishing fluid is solved. when looking underneath yesterday i noticed the inside wall of the rear right tyre was darker than the rest, a closer inspection revealed that the bango on the caliper has been weeping fluid over time...

Thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated. Booked a day off work tomorrow to go over the brake system, need to see where the missing fluid went. I'll update if I find anything.

So got in the old girl this morning to go to work and brake pedal went to the floor. Checked the brake fluid and its empty, checked over the brake system and there is no leaks anywhere. I've removed the master cylinder to see if its leaking...
