Your opinions, do up and sell or strip it?

Basically I'm getting a van now for work so the discovery is going to have to go as I can't afford to keep it as a second car, something much smaller is needed :( It's a 96 Discovery ES 3.9V8 with lpg and other toys on it, winch bumper and winch, full roofrack, rock/tree sliders etc. I've got...

Fair enough, cheers for the simple answer, I shall leave it be.

    Carbon canister, ok to remove?

Have removed the carbon canister before in other cars I've had but just want to make sure it's ok to do on these things. Only want to remove it for abit more much needed room in the bay. So is it alright to do without causing any problems? It as simple as unplugging it and blocking off the pipes?

Waterpump gone or normal running warm?

Where did you get your 4 row rad from noisy? Mine is certainly not in the greatest condition with a few missing fins!

Waterpump gone or normal running warm?

Aye I knew they ran hot, just making sure it's not going to blow up. But as you mention it I would have noticed a failed waterpump so it must all be okay. And I defiantly don't have a 4 row HD rad so that will make a difference. Might look into one in the future though. Slowly getting through...

Waterpump gone or normal running warm?

Fitted twin electric fans at the weekend, and today the were running for a long time whilst driving at good speeds so lots of airflow so I'm thinking that maybe the water pump has gone. The fans are set to switch on at 88 or 92 degrees, can't remember which. The rad is also hot all over so that...

    Cam change, gaskets etc.

So far its going well, to the stage of putting it all back together now. Old cam was pretty worn which I was pleased to see. The bearings were also good so that's another plus.

    Viscous fan removal

Got it off pretty easily with a spanner and some small box section for a lever. Definitely helps to know which way to undo it :)

    Cam change, gaskets etc.

Which headgasket set should I get, STC1641 or STC4082? Mines the 3.9 serpentine if I haven't already said that before.

    Cam change, gaskets etc.

I'll see how worn they are then, if they are really bad I'll change them if not I'll just leave them be. Will certainly make the job easier if I don't have to change them.

    Cam change, gaskets etc.

Thanks for the tip, will remember that when doing it. Would it be worth changing the cam bearings? Engine is on 130k

    Cam change, gaskets etc.

Gonna be changing my cam next weekend. Already got the replacement cam. Just want to make sure I've got everything before I dive into it. From reading up the gaskets I'll need to change are, valley, rocker cover, front timing cover, oil pump. Are these the only ones or is it good to do others...

    Viscous fan removal

Cheers for that Kryztal, I've been trying to do it clockwise, so I've just been doing it up then! Should hopefully be able to get it off now knowing that. Will leave it til next weekend and do it the same time as cam change!
