Yes took 2 hands pull tensioner. It stopped when wd40 was sprayed on the belt. But then comes back. Only does it on idle. Or if I rev a little. It drives all OK and no noise when driving
Yep I double checked them all and all tight now. But if look at my other post I'm now having problems with the auxiliary belt. But all bolts etc are tight.
Replaced anti roll bar bushes and in the end it turned out on one of the drop links the mechanic hadn't tighten the nut up properly and the drop link was loose on anti roll bar. All sorted now and thanks for all advice. Now I've another problem...
We have just fitted a new crank pully, new tensioner and pully, new idler pully, new belts and 2nd hand alternator.
All runs well and alternator is charging good. But when start engine there is a noise at idle. Upon closer inspection the belt...
Was a mobile mechanic that came out. I watched everything he did. No tools left.
Wishbones are new, wishbones bush housing is new. All bolts and nuts new. Drop links are new.
Never had this sound before. Does it in reverse or forward but...
He tighten the wish bones while it was up on axle stand but put jack under it and then tightend bolt. The bolts are tight. And the drops links are new as well as they were done yesterday same as the wishbones

Just been out and had a look with a torch and can see it better turns out it is the bracket as pictured and not the case cover. Now I've just got to find a second hand part as £300 for a new one is steep
It's this bit in blue. If that bit gets clued on with metal epoxy and then I out the back bolt into the support bracket and the top bolt in. Then this bottom bolt might hold ok? As does it goe through this and then into a support bracket?
Ok thanks if it is the lower timing case and the alternator bracket behind is still OK could I not clue that part back onto the timing case with metal clue and then as long as the bolt goes into the alternator bracket it should still hold and be OK?
No the top bolt has snapped in the hole it bolts into and that can come out. The back bolt is OK as well. But the front bottom bolt is still in the alternator and what it bolts into has snapped off and is still attached to the alternator.
It's the part in blue that has snapped off the other bit from above link I think is still OK. It's the bit I've marked in blue. I think the bolt goes through that and then into the other part. But I'm not sure and was hoping someone could shed...
I think it's this bit that has snapped off the cast iron bit. I'm hoping it can be fixed. The part I have done in blue is my alternator and the bottom bolt is still attached to alternator and the back has the snapped cast iron bit attached still...
Thanks I got belt on but now I've another problem. It all ran OK but then belt flew off and I checked and alternator was on an angle.
I've a 2005 landrover freelander 1 td4 bmw engine and the bottom bolt on the alternator has snapped from where...
I've a 2005 landrover freelander 1 td4 bmw engine and the bottom bolt on the alternator has snapped from where it bolts into not the bit on the alternator the bit the bolt goes into. If I'm asking sense. Is this a bracket attached to engine or is...
I know this is an old post but any pictures of the bracket?
I've a 2005 landrover freelander 1 td4 bmw engine and the bottom bolt on the alternator has snapped from where it bolts into not the bit on the alternator the bit the bolt goes into...
But it is 1 inch to short to get on. Won't it be then mega tight when on? And will it even wind itself on that way as can only get it on of crank as it won't fit as it looks short but compared it belt that came off and is same size. But was...
Today we changed the crank pull and bolt. We then went to put on a new dayco belt off Ebay. We pulled the tensioner back using the right spanner etc and also we put the belt on the right way looked at diagrams off here and in the Haynes manual...
