I've gone ahead and had the 2 new tyres put on the back and the rear ones put on the front. The 2 new tyres are General grabbers UHP but the car now feels like I'm fighting with the steering and it also keeps going 'light'. Tyre dealer reckoned it would be fine to have 'normal' tyres on the...

How do you mean 'drove like a pig'?

Yes, when I bought my car it had 2 matching tyres on the back plus 2 different makes on the front resulting in 3 different makes altogether. I can see how this happens as a number of tyre outlets said that I only needed to replace one tyre on the front.

Yes, the VCU is there. I think I just misunderstood how my freelander's 4WD was set up!

Thanks for the interesting description - I now know how the 4WD works and also why to put new tyres on the back.

Hi, I contacted Stratstones at Chelt and they suggested Halfords would be cheaper as the bars are actually made by Thule. Ordered from Halfords today for £15. Problem solved...cheers! ;)

Alas, it definately says 082

I have some roof-bars which came with my freelander which I think are genuine Landrover. However there is no key with them. There is a number stamped on each lock (082) which I'm assuming is not Lowe & Fletcher as I would have thought L&F would be on each lock?
Dealer can't help...he just wants...

If it comes off undamaged we can get the correct key off e-bay and use the nut again and then I'll have a means of removing the spare if I have a puncture. Could buy a new set but trying to save money.
