    Range Rover Classic daily driver....?

In the 3 and half years I have had my softdash V8, how it has been used has varied, but for the last 4 months it has been a proper daily, covering a 17mile round trip every week day and trips of various distances at weekends. That might be the weekly shop or a family holiday to Devon and it is...

    Satnav/Radio/Mirrors/Parking Sensors Failure

Good Evening to you all, I am venturing over here from the Range Rover forum where I usually linger, as I am after a little bit of your wisdom on behalf of a friend whose MY2010 Freelander 2 has thrown a bit of a wobbly. From what I can gather the satnav display started to fail, followed by...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Started my new commute today, which means that the Rangie will once again be a proper 'daily', rather than just pootling around a few days a week and the odd long trip at weekends. Hopefully it will be all the better for more regular use.

    Idiot's Guide to dizzy/leads/rotor arm/spark plugs replacement?

All sorted. Got the new parts fitted yesterday and then found the battery was badly drained from efforts earlier in the week to get her going. Various issues made a jump start difficult, including the wife's BMW having a daft battery arrangement, so trickle charged it over night and..... she...

    Idiot's Guide to dizzy/leads/rotor arm/spark plugs replacement?

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I have a note of the firing order, just in case, but your method sounds much easier. Re: the rotor arm, am I right in thinking I need to mark exactly where it was positioned and install the new one in the exact same position?

    Idiot's Guide to dizzy/leads/rotor arm/spark plugs replacement?

I am a willing but very inexperienced mechanic and would be grateful for a very simple guide to replacing the above items, before I take this job on in the morning (all part of the learning process). My '94 V8 Classic has been struggling to start for a while and I have foolishly let it get to...

New Idle Control Valve has made things worse!

Thanks for the replies. I have ended up having to put the old ICV back in and it works OK, but it still stalls from time to time. I will have to get it looked at by the experts.

New Idle Control Valve has made things worse!

After a bit of research I thought I would see if swapping the Idle Control Valve on my '94 Softdash V8 auto would solve some of my starting, stalling and unstable revs issues. Instead, the new part provides no idle control at all (!!) and as soon as I take my foot off the throttle the revs just...

    Guess that noise

Ok, hoses seem fine but I have noticed that it only makes this noise when idling and in gear without touching the accelerator. For example when reverse parking and allowing the car to 'roll' backwards into the space (auto box remember) it makes the noise, but as soon as I touch the accelerator...

    Guess that noise

Thanks for the suggestion. I will check the hoses tonight. Pretty sure it is not the pulleys, but will have another look

    Guess that noise

Strange whining/squealing coming from under the bonnet. Only happens when the engine is warmed up and it comes and goes. Sounds to me as though it is some sort of valve/vacuum rather than any of the belts. I've even put together a Youtube clip of it: Mysterious squealing noise from Range...

    Fuel Pump, battery, what next...?

Thank you Datatek. Yesterday I found the connector for the rear wiper motor underneath the headlining at the very back of the car, but will look for the air con and sunroof connectors tonight. I imagine they might be a bit harder to access?

    Fuel Pump, battery, what next...?

The cause of the depleting battery was a 5A+ draw (!!) on it, which turned out to be the circuit that has the rear wiper, air con and sunroof. For now, I have pulled the fuse and that has put a stop to the problem and reduced the draw to less than .50A. Excuse my ignorance on electrical matters...
