Discovery 2 WTB: Discovery 2 for overland build

Hi Martin, did you find one in the end? I am selling my well loved silver 2001 TD5 ES manual. I haven't advertised it here on the forum as I don't have enough posts yet (unlike my first D2 this one has been reliable so I haven't needed much help with it). No worries if not or if you are looking...

    Time for my first L322

Same here, I like the inside of the Sport but I think the exterior styling hasn't agreed as well as the full fat rangie or D3 and whilst it's far from ugly there's too much whiff of gangster/footballer (which is not the car or designer's fault but puts me off nonetheless). Horses for courses though.

    Time for my first L322

Cheers Henry_b The Jag engined ones do appeal a lot, I'd love a S/C but I'd probably be using most of my slush fund to up the budget to one (and pay the road tax on purchase). So I'd have a more reliable car but lower funds in reserve if it did break before I can top the pot back up. Tempting...

    Time for my first L322

OK so after an enjoyable few years with my (second) TD5 Disco it's time to upgrade to something that's a real step forward in comfort safety and drive (although after ACE it looks like I might have to get accustomed to body roll as RRS is not for me). Originally wanted a D3 but their tendency to...

    Smoking/steaming air con compressor

Solved. Was a leaking egr blanking plate puffing out around the compressor.

    Smoking/steaming air con compressor

At last I have a Land Rover again, very happy. Opened the bonnet after a run today and noticed smoke or steam coming from around the top of the air con compressor. I say steam as there's no burning smell at all and it doesn't appear very dark. Aircon doesn't work, no cold air, but there are no...

    D2 de-facelift

Afternoon. This is the opposite way round to what's usually the case but does anyone know if it's relatively straight forward to fit a pre-facelift bumper to a facelift disco 2? I like the headlights but am not a fan of the chinless wonder look of the bumper. I will only be doing light...

    10P vs 15P head cracking

I'll try this one here. I'm aiming to return to land rover ownership at last. I had a 99 Disco 2 TD5 for a few years and despite a litany of faults (XYZ switch, ACE pipes, water pump, torque converter and head gasket) it was my favourite car. A facelift disco is within my budget. Given the...

    Disco 2 10P vs 15P head cracking

Hi landy folk. After 3 years in the wilderness I'm aiming to return to land rover ownership. I had a 99 Disco 2 TD5 for a few years and despite a litany of faults (XYZ switch, ACE pipes, water pump, torque converter and head gasket) it was my favourite car. My budget will get me a tidy facelift...

Disco 2 tyres what to get

When i bought my TD5 it had Cooper Zeon XSTs (not the XST-A) on the front and Fullrun HS299 on the rear and both seemed fine (255/55/18). I changed to General Grabber UHP all round. Coopers were quieter (although the grabbers are still pretty quiet on most surfaces) the grabbers seem a bit...

    Tools for D2 service

Cheers! Gonna start with the basics and if I don't cock up the simple stuff I can start expanding the collection of tools. So far the only servicing experience I've got was when I was 18 I did an oil change and fixed a faulty cooling fan on my then first car - a Montego. Luckily my Uncle had a...

    TD5 Auto rattle.....

Hi Biglad I will be very interested if you find the new engine mounts make a difference as I have exactly the same symptom and its always bugged me a bit as I find the Disco is very relaxing to drive apart from that gruff vibration. Had exhaust and a few other things investigated but to no...

    Tools for D2 service

Hi I'm keen to start doing my own servicing on my D2 and wondered if anyone has any recommendations of the most important/useful tools I should buy. Just aiming to tackle basic stuff for now - engine/transfer/axle oils, filters etc. Any advice much appreciated! :) AJ
