Most of you will hopefully have seen the post (copied below) from 110woman with the latest information about LZ11.

Unfortunately we have not sold as many tickets as we would have hoped so some things have had to change.
We will now be using 2 smaller Marquees rather than one large and 1 small. This makes a big difference to the cost and for this help we have to thank Ginge for beg stealing and borrowing the second Marquee.

UPDATE.....NOW CONFIRMED A FULL BAR WILL BE AVAILABLE SATURDAY EVENING

These things are likely to have minimum impact on the event itself. For those who came last year will know, it's more about socialising and meeting new people (and eating and drinking). The weekend is still going to be great! If you havn't bought a ticket and still want to come, get one bought..you won't regret it!

Right....happy to announce that LZ11 will be held at Stanford Hall in Leicestershire- LE17 6DH on Friday 15th - Sunday 17th May :)





Green laning groups from 2pm on Saturday and 11am Sunday



Food is provided during the weekend -



BBQ on the Friday evening providing hotdogs, burgers and cheeseburgers with limited vegetarian alternatives. All the meat will be coming from the same amazing butchers we used last year and anyone who came to LZ10 can attest to the quality



Saturday morning again the BBQ will be in action with bacon rolls on offer.



Saturday lunch BBQ with the same menue as Friday evening



Saturday Evening/ tea time - we will be having a homecooked chicken curry & rice or a vegetable chilli & rice on offer catered by one of our LZ chefs



Saturday - post drinking munchie time - BBQ will be briefly fired up



Sunday Morning - bacon rolls



The times of all the meals will be available at the site and clearly displayed - we intend to have defined/set times the BBQ will be lit in order to reduce the wasteage of the gas that took place last year when the thing was on almost permanantly !!



Prices will go up on here ( as soon as I get hold of the butcher to check this year's prices )



A urn will be on the go throughout the weekend and tea and coffee will be available - again costs when I have a moment



Last year we had fantastic donations of cakes of every flavour and variety you could believe and people bought.... A LOT !! - last year was for charity but I think this year we will use any funds raised to off set the costs of running the event - clearly anything raised in excess we will donate to charity. Any donations of cake will again be most gratefully received

Have to say I'm a bit gutted about the bar but im sure we'll manage :)

Just to add we chose MelanomaUK as this years charity in honour of Freddy007's long battle against it and to remember the others we've lost to cancer.

Sadly he lost the fight last week but he gave it a bloody good run and a celebration of his life is been held in Frome, Somerset this coming Monday 20th April at 10.30am.

If anyone would like to come along with Minty, Pikey and me to show their appreciation of all his input and support of many LZ events then PM for details.

He will of course be remembered and missed by many at LZ11
 
Had the Pleasure of meeting him last. Year a great guy .be sadly missed at this years bash.

As for the bar, could we buy a couple of barrels of ale from a local brewery? I can probably make some enquiries if you want? And would be able to borrow a couple of taps from the pub I work in hopefully.

I work Tuesday nights, so let me know. Ale taps would be easier to get hold of as they are just a tap you hit in with a mallet.

Lagers and pressurised barrels need all sorts of stuff to get connected up I think, but might be possible if you really want them. I used to set bars up with the landlord a few years ago.

As for ales, I don't personally know anywhere where you can get barels of ale, but I have a friend who is mad about ales, so he might know.
 
There is a brewery down the road from us and you rent kegs. and they rent the proper pulling tap as well which just needs a bench or something to attach to. 100 quid deposit as they are expensive..... But you can get any size keg from 10 pints 20 pints to full on beer keg.

The only decision was on the type of ale.. some need to settle for 48 hours before using and others can be used straight away. I think the downside of the one used straight away was it needed to be consumed within 48 hours.

They also give glasses etc as any as you need.

I've got a mate that runs a double decker converted to a bar, it's outside my experience but I'll have a chat with him and see if I can get my head round what's needed.
 
I like the sound of making our own Bar. If all 3 of you look at options with your contacts i'm sure something will come good. :D
 
The short answer is yes, the longer answer is there's ways around it especially as we're not open to the public as such

Beer is free but the glasses cost £xx each. ;)

Sadly im not coming but ask around if any of the other members are "personal license" holders I have one from my years doing pubs and clubs and they are issued to people not places so if somebody has one and you get the application in to the local council sharpish there wont be a problem for a private event.
 
Myself Sam and Rob talked about this when we met a few weeks ago.

Most real ale breweries will rent you a "beer engine" for a small fee ...ask for the beer "Bright" so it doesn't need to condition .

Have some cotton cloths tea towels to cover the barrels with and keep them damp to keep the temp down .
Yes the legals ARE a tad "iffy" BUT a pint for a donation is usually manageable unless you have any Government type Stazi's about .

We usually rock 4 72 pint over a weekend at "Leafers at T'pit"



A 72 pint SHOULD return 68/70 pints allowing for dragging through the lines spillage etc AND usually costs between £80-£100 depending on strength and name .
We usually ask for a "Donation" of £2 a pint to cover costs AND make sure we have a charity donation .
Seems to work pretty well .

Not trying to stick my nose in BTW ...Just trying to be helpful

o if you want real ales they need to be kept cool you need to tap them and let all the sediments settle down or they will be cloudy and if they are what my dad called green(pass?) You could end up with tummy rot.

Feel free to stick your nose in as much as you like, this ^^^ is very helpful

I'd recommend only tapping 1 72 pinter at a time UNLESS you can guarantee finishing more in one "Session"
Bright beer as above has a pretty short life (Realistically a couple of moderately warm days once opened )

Cider is available too (We usually have a couple of 40 pint "Bags in a box") in pretty much a large wine box ....
I usually pay @ £40 for 40 pints ...again "Selling" at £2 a pint, Cider in the bags in a box has a longer life as the bags are basically sealed ....
Be wary though there are some daft strength ones out there (Less so now though as legislation has changed)
BUT I used to do one that was 7.5% ....

Cleanliness pump line wise (Spot of milton in a bucket pulled through lines before you start ....and flushed through well with clean water )
AND coolness are you friends ...especially if it's warm .

IF someone is designated barman it helps folks not to forget to stick their donation in the pot .....
That said ...we've never been down on the donation as folks are well aware its all for charity ...Which speaks volumes I reckon .

I usually do a curry cooked in the field so to speak (Usually for about 50 folks) though I have a cracking local asian supermarket SO bulk cook in bulk poppadoms etc are easy peasy .
Last year we did pizzas in a wood fired pizza oven I bought ...

That went down a storm ....though when folks started asking for "special" pizzas the time went a bit to pot
BUT everyone enjoyed it a heap AND it was something different,
Pizza bases etc were all from a local italian wholesalers .
 
If you go to a cash and carry they have most parts ie taps and pipe cleaner get the coloured one because when you flush with clean water it will say so many pulls etc but if you go for the coloured one you can see it go. You can just use taps but beer will be a bit flat. A hand pump just pumps and with a sparkler on the end gives it head:D:D:D. Due to for real ale to settle down id let it settle for a day min unless you get a beer engine as mr iceman mentioned but not had any experience with them but if it conditions then it will taste good . I'll dig out the pumps tomorrow after work and see what other bits are around.

Cool, sounds like we are getting a plan together :)

I went to local (well actually in Oxford) ale festival last year and they got around the licensing by selling tokens. So you bought say 10 tokens for £7 and it was 4 tokens for a beer, and 3 for a burger, or something like that. I think that works.
