Just when I think I am making progress....Cash kicks back!
Was pretty happy with the way the dash ended up:

Until I started looking at the engine bay wiring:

missing wires.JPG

and yes, I have left 4 wires on the wrong side!

AAARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!
:mad::mad::mad:

The I found that the new clutch slave is ****ing fluid all down the connecting rod!

And then I moved onto bleeding the brakes - got a surprisingly good pedal...until I worked out that the the rear flexi is blocked solid.

:(

29 nuts, bolts and washers later...tub is attached!
Does anyone put a seal or sealant between the tub and the seatbox? I might revisit this later.

Then on with the hoops:

Heater pipe also fitted:

2 Problem issues:
The hinge bolts for the windscreen - they are listed as 346989 - but these seem a little short?? (Also why do they come as a set of 5 ????)

and: guess who has misplaced the Nearside version of this??

and yes, it has rained here most of the day
:(

Then again, I might find it easier to put the door frame together if I reverse the front hoop!!

Wiring issues!!!
Anyone got any experience with Cargo Regulators?
cargo wiring.JPG

I seem to have a rogue wire that leaves the regulator but doesn't connect through the connector. Any clues as to what might be missing?

Also...the White cable with red tracer runs through to the fusebox...but wasn't actually connected there. Any clues?

The "official" diags from Cargo list Letters for the outputs, but no key as to what the letters mean

:confused::confused:

Back injury and silly-season on the roads have meant very little has been done recently (other than the realisation of total pillock-tude by yours truly - yes...I forgot all about the clutch bearing when I mated the gearbox to the engine :eek::eek:)

I have been tinkering with the rear lighting however, now that the welding is done and the tub fitted.
So I have 6 wires to play with:
Red/black - tail lights (both sides)
Green/white - Right indicator
Green/red - Left indicator
Red - Brake lights.
Red/yellow - ????
Brown/red - ????

Not sure what else a Military 109 from 1974 would have had?
Even with glasses on I struggle with the wiring diagrams I have been able to find.
So....over to you guys!!!

:)

Red/yellow seems to be Convoy Light and Brown/red is Rear Fog . What about an Earth/ground? Will you take that from chassis?.....

Cheers for that. Wasn't sure that fog lights existed back then but can certainly use it as such....once I work out which switch activates it

Going for overkill with the earth(s) - one at each rear cluster, heavy ones from tub to chassis both sides, another at the junction box where old wiring meets new....
:)

Now lets see if I can find the flasher unit...

So I have now removed the engine...and revealed the bellhousing.

Now the sharper-eyed amongst us might possibly notice the lack of Fork, heavy duty or otherwise.

Never worked with an internalised clutch fork before.
The joys of the Daihatsu Fourtack. Seems I have a Rocky bellhousing to go with the Rocky engine. For some reason I had thought that the clutch gubbins would have been Landy. Still, every day is a school day so they say.
Daihatsu clutch bearing ordered....

:p

A wise man learns from his mistakes, its only if you keep repeating the same ones that we would think you were a pillock:D
Anyone who has said they have never made a mistake is a bare faced liar, we all cock up now and again.
Looking good though, very green;)

While making use of the slight improvement in the Scottish weather, and clearing some of the undergrowth from around the family estate, I stumbled across one of these:

Seems I left it lying there about 18 months ago. Still looking for the enthusiasm that I lost around that time, cos really, it needs to be finished...or gone....fairly soon.

A whole curly whirly and a full packet of wine gums for you if you can deliver 👍
