Thanks for the info. When looking at the joint on mine I see there’s what looks like 3 metal onions at the end of the prop shaft, inside the collar. Will the rubber easily stretch over this or is there a trick to it?

I've got one of these boot replacement things now. Not fitted it yet. But I do have an update on the price.

£34 + vat = £40.80 (+ post).

Update. Fitted me new prop boot today. This new £40.80 one fitted without the need for cutting. Must be a different one to the one before.

I appear to have f**ked up my gaiter today while bringing it back from the mechanics in my trailer. Got back and there was a thick black oil oozing out of the gaiter through a hole. Are these new gaiters easily fitted and the oil easily replaced?

There's 2 types. The crap original one which rips oft as soon as you fit it and the betterer one we prefer to fit. Best of luck choosing. ;)

This is from memory as it’s been a while since I did it.

Disconnect the front prop to ird connection.

Remove all the bolts and slide the collar off.

Remove the cir-clip off the end of the joint. You don’t need to remove the rollers. Be careful not to knock one off like I did. Hence the tie wrap to hold the needle bearings in place while I put the roller back.

Should come off like this

Pull the old clip/gaiter oft.

Make sure the new gaiter fits over the collar and holes align.

Now slide only the new gaiter and hose clip on the shaft. Fill with grease supplied with gaiter and fit the tripod joint carefully. Fit the cir-clip on the end of the shaft.

Put some grease in the collar and slide onto the joint. Line up the collar and gaiter holes and secure with a tie wrap.

Secure back to ird.
Tighten the hose clip round the shaft holding the end of the gaiter making sure the rubber isn’t pulled when the prop turns.

Do you know what size the bolts are that hold the prop bearing housing to the underside of the car
Thanks

Hi, my gaiter broke and I have been searching for a similar gaiter online but I can seem to locate one similar to the one on pic,
Please advice where i can get one.

Regards

Can't seem to move tripod bearing
Any ideas

I you can remove remove circlip you may have to take slightly stronger measures to dislodge the tripod bearing. On other cars I have had to resort to using two bits of wood to tap into bearing(usually place below either side of the shaft and using a downward motion on the shaft until the bearing make contact. Repeat until freed. My only caveat would be that, a seen from previous photos if one of the balls come off then it may end up with roller needle bearing hell a they make a bid for freedom. Other than that technique I can't see another option. Maybe others others to beg differ. Best of luck.
