Hi all, I've been lurking around on here for a while learning loads before I took the plunge and bought myslef a 2005 freelander. I'm keen to put some nice alloys on it, however I've read a lot about the fitting of alloys on the larger rear brake drums.

My question isn't about fitting, I've found several non land rover alloys that will fit, however, is there any safety issues with using non land rover (possibly cheaply made?) alloys on the freelander?

Cheers in advance.

Now mods, long standing wise members etc, can't we make a sticky of this or one with just what fits I've asked this question in the past a simple sticky/database thread would have been a good help and I'd have known what to look out for going cheap...

I have been looking at a set of alloys, non Land Rover, for my Freelander and have asked a few relevant questions such as tyre size and are they designed for a Freelander from the supplier and the answers have come back Yes.

These are the wheels: 15" Land Rover FREELANDER 98-04 LENSO BSX 4 BLACK Alloy Wheels only 5x114.3 ET35 | eBay

Taking the supplier at face value I would say parts do not have to be genuine, as many parts now are not.

GRID OFFROAD - ROTA Wheels

Been looking at these myself. Standard freebie rims have an et46 offset. The 5 x 114.3 bolt pattern is easily available and can be had at an et10 so the tires will get spaced out by 36mm!!

Only thing is they need to hold the right amount of weight. Think the freelander rims are rated to around 900kg a piece.
