I just travelled 615KMs between fills in my '99 L Series Diesel and it used 46 liters.

About 550KM of that was open road and of that probably 80% flat, 20% moderate hills. There were 4 adults onboard and a bit of stuff (fishing tackle) in the boot. Speed was kept between 100 and 110KMH - so just over 60MPH. 100KMH is the maximum speed limit here and the rossers hand out tickets like confetti.

The remaining 65KMs was stop/start round town.

46 Litres / (615 KMs / 100) = 7.5 L/100KMs
382 Miles / 10.1 Gallons = 37.8 MPG

I know its supposed to return these figures, but even so, I'm still very pleased with it and hopefully it means the car's in pretty good shape.

This is in 2WD - but its carrying all the original props & VCU - less the crown wheel gear in the IRD. Once again a Kiwi thing so that it gets its warrant (MOT) as a 2WD.

Was trying to find the Freelander MPG thread, but can't find it. Did find this though and its quite appropriate as yesterday I did the same trip.

As near as damm it the same number of kms, filled up today.... 46 litres :)

So 6 and a bit years on and exactly the same mpg :D

I filled up before the trip, 600kms of town traffic took 49 litres giving an mpg of 34.6.

Quite happy still :D

Pretty good numbers there. Does the M47 model get better figures?
Not @kernowsvenski s one by the sounds of it - but I believe his is an auto which has pretty poor economy round town. On a run, or a manual should be about the same.
Looking at those figures you could run a K series with its spritlier performance. Might be cheaper too with no RUC to pay.
Yes, I know you've matched those mpg figures on a run with is mighty impressive, and the RUCs do make diesel slightly more expensive.

I can get those figures with a bit of weight in the car as well - 4 people and luggage, dunno if the K would be the same.

The round town figure of 34.5 mpg is also pretty good, dunno if the K would match or better that.
