Hi, this is my 1st post on the forum. Sorry its a help one!!!

I'm looking to buy a early disco (M reg td300 seemingly) as a off road toy. I've found a decent one with a new boot floor, solid chassis (seatbelt mounts etc), recon gearbox - transfer box - steering box and new clutch slave cylinder.

The problem is I didn't tell the owner I was coming to look at it to catch him off guard. It's been sat 3 months as he is banned from driving and had a flat battery so it wouldnt start.

He attempted to jump it and smoke poured out from under the steering column, whilst trying to find the problem I noticed the connections from the split charger were both on the chassis. I don't know if this is the cause.
The wire that burned out was a purple one from a large yellow connector under the steering column. Does anyone know what this might be?

Many thanks

Gary

A quick picture of said wire. It is a large yellow male to female connector.
