Mine is going behind the cubby box in the middle, on the plastic above where the air vents in the back come out. I have controls on my mic to change channels.

I put mine above sun visor on passenger side

cut a bit of the storage shelf out at a very slight angle so can see the display when driving. Handset has channel changing buttons, but I can reach all buttons and switches

I think you could lift that wee rubber mat on the top of the dash and drill two holes, then rivnut them and bolt in a proper cb bracket, if you don't have one it's easy enough to get a universal one. Then when you don't want it any more the rivnuts get covered up with the wee rubber mat.

I did my-self a favour and got a mobile cb, when im using it it goes on top of the console with a speaker mic that clips to the sun visor, when I have done it goes back into the house, at least then no one can pinch it.

I've never understood why these things dont get smaller. My new one is the same size now as my one was in the 1980's (before they were legal) - but look at the way mobile phones have reduced in size! You'd think a slimline version would be possible.

Why don't you buy a small cb as you don't really need all the knobs on its front display,,I bought the smallest i could get from that place in northamptonshire by the Billing caravan place ..I put mine inside the cubby box between the seats on my 1999 disco 2.Wacked a mag mount on roof jobs a gud un and no one can see it if they look inside..2 meters/70cms the same.

a small uk legal rig would fit either in the cubby box or above the sun visor if you want to go sideband ect you wont be doing that on the move so rig can be rested on dash when stationary.
But for greenlaning uk legal is all that is needed.

Mines bolted onto the drivers side of the centre console. It doesn't get in the way even though I'm 6'1". It probably is a bit smaller than your unit though.

Now then gentlemen,

My big chunky Amstrad 901 used to go here

But then when that packed up after 25 years of service, my new (used) midland 77-099 which is a lovely little set and much smaller goes here

And it's super smashing great cos its right close - can hear it easily in noisy disco, and can easily fiddle your knob whilst driving etc.

All depends on size though, as they say :D

I bought a president walker cos ive been wanting one for ages, it has great features and top level build quality, I tried to find a space for it but sold it again cos the little radio was just too handy, the chunky president would have had to go elsewhere and it was just too much of a limiting factor.

Cheers

yeah i bought it a few years ago from thunder pole near billing as a recon'd unit for my s11a swb as it could easly be fitted anywhere but i sold the s11a last year and bought a d1 but helped a mate yesterday fit his very small cb in his d1, if need be i mite buy a smaller cb and fit it in the over head console.
