ok, so driving along suddenly a clunk from underneath.. thought i'd driven over a loose grate.. but it also sounded like summat falling off, like a nut or bolt, or even just a stone out of tyre tread..

after that major vibration on acceleration... whole car vibrates, but not the steering wheel..

gets lots worse under load, like goin up hill..

not too noticable in 1st, starts in 2nd bout 25mph, gets worse in 3rd, worse in 4th..

when ya get up to cruising speed it's not as bad.. but as soon as a hill starts it gets more noticable..

checked u/j's on props and nuts n bolts on props.. donut no worse than it has been for a while...

what do i check next?

will do.. thanks..

when i checked em earlier today (at the side of the road in the rain)..

i noticed that the front prop turned almost a quarter turn, whilst stationary, is that excessive play?

hand brake was on so rear prop didnt turn at all..

also noticed whilst driving it that when i lift off the gas there is a bit of a clunk from the drivetrain somewhere...

that'd be the front prop uj giving up, get it changed asap, they make a hell of a mess if they fail. buy OE - they're only a couple of quid dearer and they'll last ( well at least a couple of years if mines owt to go by).
whole job of swapping only takes about an hour.

not if the output and front diff flanges are turning too more likely unrelated diff wear mine does this

how do i check for that?

can i take one prop at a time and use 2 wheel drive with diff lock in?

does that work for front and rear props?

CHECK for what i was mearly stating it didn't have to be a uj causing slop in the drive train but if you want to check the props you can remove them with difflock on yeah

i really should of looked harder, maybe as i was lying in a puddle i rushed the initial inspection..

u/j on front prop is totally fubar!

apologies for wasting time...

will look harder next time...

front prop off ready to replace u/j in mornin...

"Take your props off and check them - you can't check them thoroughly enough while they're still on the car."
