I've searched so put your flame throwers away! ;) couldn't find what i was after, so, what size can i replace them with? found a thread on another forum in which a guy said they were 6".. but 6" speakers are hard to come by! can i replace with 6.5"?

has anyone replaced the standard items and what with?

any advice/pics welcomed... :)

its a long time since been in ther but halfrauds used to do retro fit speaker packages to up grade speakers. They had a flip book thing with car model and list of speakers that would fit.

funnily enough i tried there first hoping they'd have a range of speakers in but actually had cock all.. will have another butchers though to see if they have that chart, cheers..

funnily enough I am in the throws of this at the moment! Pulled the door card off yesterday (lots of those trim plug things!) and after removing the std speaker I couldn't quite get a 6.5" one in the hole so ordered some mdf speaker spacer rings off ebay (£6 came nxt day). Will need to trim the door card molding a little for it all to be snug but you wouldn't see anything as its within the speaker pod and the old speaker will happily go back in if needs be later on.

So, yes, 6.5" is the way to go with 8 or 12mm spacer ring. I also suggest you get a pack of the waterproof speaker foam which fits to the door membrane to allow the speaker to 'breath' into the door. As standard it is sealed with the polythene so not good for speaker operation. A bit of dynomat wouldn't go amiss either while your there, 80% install, 20% kit!!
