Snapped grease nipple on end of propshaft help needed.

Hi

Grease gun got stuck on the grease nipple and while attempting to get it off I sheared the grease nipple off. This is at the front of the front prop-shaft (is this the uj grease nipple ?).

How easy are they to replace ?
Can I drive it like this ? If so how much ?

they just screw out(think its 8 or 10mm socket/spanner) and then just put a new one in,you'll be ok driving it like that for a while untill its ready for greasing

not got round to greasing the propshaft on my td5 yet.
but all of the grease nipples i`ve done on other vehicles have just screwed into whatever your greasing. depending on how its sheared off, you still might have a 8 or 10mm(lr`s might be different) spanner size nut to undo. if its snapped off flush, then an easy out should do the trick. really can`t see why you can`t carry on driving though.

they are usualy 7mm ,can be unscrewed with file tang or such tapered thread so not usually to tight ,wont hurt running as is for weeks

depending on wether it has snapped flush not leaving a nut to turn it out there are several ways to get it out but if your lucky and its just the nipple gone just undo it.

i'd guess u reason for posting being its snapped flush in which case u can buy an extractor to get it out or use a drill 1mm under the size of the thread and drill it out slowly and then clean the thread with a thread tool easily bought for £20 or so, should be ok to drive for a while but dont forget about it hope it helps if u need any particular help feel free to pm me

Yes it has snapped off flush, a spring came off with it too.

Not heard of easy out , what is it ?

If I drill it out am I not in danger of some of the metal going inside ?

jammed a small file in mine when it sheared,then unscrewed easily-you might be lucky as well-new grease guns seem to be too good a fit on the nipples,n I bought the bloody thing to grease em up properly

just type easy out in ebay is an extractor tool

A bit worried about how to get the new 1 in as I can't see how you can get a spanner or socket in their.

Haven't tried yet but it looked a bit tight for space. Will try and get something in their.

Can anyone advise me of what size thread the nipples are that I need to replace ?
