oil light

hi on my way home from work this evening my oil light started to flicker wen i slowed down or changed gear, i had and oil and filter service only done on monday so i checked the oil and it was just below the full mark so i topped it up and this has seemed to have cured the flicker but after re-checking the dipstick it is now about 1/2 a centimetre over the full line will this do any damage sorry if its stupid question but id rather check (sorry my car is a dicovery 300 tdi)

you should be ok with the extra oil. but I should get your oil pump checked out cos if ya got low pressure either the pumps fooked or you have a blockage and the oil's not returning to the sump fast enough. aand finnally it could just be a knackered pressure switch in witch case change it.

the oil pump is around 70 squid ish and fit it ya self thats part o ownin a landy

or pay me 100 squid in labour ta fit it 4 ya

Ha ha might just take you up on that are there any other symptoms that would point towards it been a oil pump

just get ya oil pressure tested first b 4 spendin n e money m8

if the oil light comes on, when you have been running, engine warm and at tick over then goes off when revved, CHANGE your oil pressure switch first simple job

other thing to watch and worrying bearing shells can affect oil pressure,

go for switch first

just thought i would let you know i fitted an oil pressure switch and it seems to have sorted it thanks for all the help
