:D Hi peeps, now mine is no problem. I ant sure if i am down on power. I purchased my TD5, with only 49000, its a auto. I aint smoking, or slacking. So is it wise to go EGR removal, do I benefit, do i stop inherant sludging probs, or do i just not bother at mo.

Def remove or blank off your EGR valve, I know two peolpe with TD5's and both have better response, more power and better mpg. Get yourself on ebay and buy the blanking plate with gasket and screws for 8 quid or so.

I can promise you'll be happy.. all engine's go better on fresh air, instead of exhaust gas..

At 50 k miles you might want to take the plunge and clean the inlet manifold.
You will be shocked at the mess in there due to the EGR.

Did you see my recent thread about MPG? My TD5 has the EGR plated (at the manifold end) and on a 1000 mile run last week averaged 35.8 mpg.

Do most people clean out the inlet manifold after removing the EGR?
If you do how is it done? do you remove the manifold? is it a nightmare? ;)

Cheers

EGR Diagnosis needed:

TD5 Discovery with power upgrade and (supposedly) 82K. Very fast and economical but there's an irritating mid-pitched noise and vibration from the engine that feels like something loose or spinning on its own, possibly an ancillary bearing, and a tendency for the revs to lurch at low speeds - its either on or off. Several mechanics have found no fault with it but it doesn't feel or sound like my last one (which I should never have sold).

Comments posted here suggest it might be the EGR valve stuck open/shut. Does this sound likely ? Does a faulty EGR cause vibration and noise ?
