disco 2 front fogs

Evening all ,i have one fog light thats had water ingress at some point(they all seem to be drivers side)my question is are they a sealed unit or could it be opened and cleaned.Ive seen the price of new ones and decided nearly a ton is a little bit to pricey.Many thanks in advance.

I have just changed mine on the passenger side, mine is the facelift with the round fogs, I managed to get a second hand one on eBay for £30. however when I got it out to replace it with the new one I noticed the bulb holdervwasnt seated properly therefore allowing water in, I changed it anyway and have dried the other out in the house so I now have a spare.
So in answer to your question I your are the round facelift ones take it out and see if the bulb holder is correctly seated, it may not be in which case just dry it out and give it a clean.

Cheers mate, mines a pre facelift 2000, the lense has gone yellow,its more of a cosmetic thing really look horrible.The one thing i dont get is £80 for a fog light but only £40 for a head light!

EEeek! £80 for a light you can (legally/morally) use for about 5 minutes per annum?

(Highway Code rule 226 "You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves".

I think I would spend £20 on some Philips Extreme Power headlight bulbs, and the other £60 on a good service.

Most Fog Light users haven't a clue that it's illegal to use them when visibility is over 100 metres. Misuse is a good reason for the cops to pull over a vehicle for a spot-check or breahalyser.

I'm pretty sure front fogs aren't covered in the MOT (at least mine weren't checked last time) - that's probably why half the vehicles have got them adjusted (annoyingly) for spotting aircraft.
