Ever had one of those mornings? I'm sitting on a slip road whilst the RAC guy is fitting a new fuel pump. Mine died half way up the hill. Funny really I suppose, I should have known this would happen to me, seeing as I thought everything wad fixed. Oh well.

One strange thing did happen, when he disconnected the lines and turned it over, it started and ran for ages and he couldn't figure out what it was running on. I have a terrifying theory and I wonder if anyone else has heard of this: if the turbo is damaged, the engine will run itself on the oil and you won't find out till something goes pop. Anyone know If that's true?

yes the engine will run away on its own oil. However it will rev its tits off and smoke like hell. I'd be taking the turbo to intercooler hose off and checking for oil, also take the hose off from ic to the inlet. You will find some oil in there, but if you get a fair bit out then blown turbo seals. What i did was to remove the hose that goes from the turbo to the ic. Put a sheet of a4 white paper in front of it, whilst engine was running and rev the engine. I got alot of oil splatter, so replaced it.
