Acquired my 3rd disco (below) last year. I got her for a good price but naturally had to spend to some cash to get everything mechanically sound for what I hope to be a much longer relationship than I had with my previous two; and yes I'm still talking about the Discovery.

I have refurbished, replaced, upgraded most/all of the mechanical components I need to for now; bearings, hubs, front diff, oils, filters, seals, timing, head gasket etc so next in line is the interior and overall appearance of the vehicle.

I need to replace the front seats. I noticed auf_wiedersehen has fitted Seirra Cosworth seats to the front of his, which look absolutely spot on, so I will be keeping a look out for a decent pair, but can anyone recommend any other decent seats that fit a Disco 1? I got a budget of about £200/chair for this. Drivers seat is a priority, passenger, not so much :p

The next thing I have been considering is a respray. I like matt black, but in moderation. I think mine has too much matt. I've been trying to think of multi-colour colour scheme. Maybe keeping the bonnet matt black, with the black windows and tread-plate but changing the colour of the rest of the vehicle. I'd like to keep it looking fairly discrete as this will be used more for touring/adventure than extreme off-roading. I seem be lacking imagination at the moment so looking for some suggestions to get the mind working. Obviously colour is a personal preference but as I said, just looking for a bit of inspiration.

Hope you're all enjoying your bank holiday guys. I'm sure its been a productive one!

Hi Larry

I think she look great as she is. As to seats if you have the time you will be able to get any seat to fit provided its not larger than the space it has to go in.

Strip the paint, sand down to the metal and give it a huge massive polish like the silver surfer, would look rad!

My mate has a set of seats from a honda crz/x in his disco. Really comfy. As for colour it depends how you are going to paint it and what finish. I've been looking at the "Rugged Guide" facebook page the last few days and he does a lot of satin finish defenders in subtle colours.

This won't help I know but I really like the look as it is - clear indicator lenses and lose the amber beacon would be all I'd do. If you want to break up the black a bit you could put some sponsor stickers on it and do the LANDROVER lettering on the bonnet etc? Nice neat truck that mate ;)

As you know, I bolted a slab of chequer plate onto the seat bases and then bolted the seats onto the chequer plate so, in reality, most seats will fit as long as they physically fit into the car.

I spent bloody ages trying to make Recaro runners fit a Disco base and Disco runners fit Recaros. Total waste of time. KISS as they say.

Do them in gloss black on the matt black paint, very subtle.

My old man ordered a TD5 Defender from the factory when they first came out (S-Reg 99). He asked if it would be possible to skip the paint job and apply a transparent layer over the polished Al body.. needless to say, Land Rover wouldn't oblige

Cheers. This is quite an old pic. Roof rack is off completely for now and clear indicators have been fitted.

I like the sound of this. I have a few ideas which will surface in the future. What's you opinion on the comfort of your seats? They really do look the part so its a bit of a case of possibly going with what I know works. The only issue being I have the beige interior :(

Thanks. The problem is, it is absolutely impossible to keep clean. Within a couple of days of general use, the crap really starts to show against the matt finish. Also, scratches scratches scratches. I don't exactly do a lot of off roading, but when I do, I don't let a little overgrown hawthorn get in my way.
