Hi all

I am fitting my CB radio tomorrow, I am mounting it where the front sunroof switches would be in the roof, I was going to take the power from the internal light but when my freind did his he found that the supply was insificant. Can anyone recommend another place without going all the way back to the battery, can I connect to the stereo permanent feed? Will the supply be sufficient for both the radio and the CB?

Also dose anyone know what size fuse I should be using for protecting the CB radio?

Cheers

Rob

I'd be amazed if it drew more than an amp and a bit even when transmitting. Unless you have some turbo-nutter booster that is :)

tried wiring my mates cb in by joining into the int light but once we removed the roof console we thought the wiring for the light was to thin to join into so decided to run a wire from the cb that was screwed to the roof console through the map holder then down the A post cover to the wiring loom behind the kick panel and along the loom through the bulkhead to the battery we also fused it aswell, sounds a lot of work but there was nowhere ells to pick up from even the wires to the sun roof switches were the same as the int light wires but anyway it works ok, mite do mine the same way once i can buy a smaller cb to fit into my map holder, can't fit it in the roof console as my sun roofs are manual ones

What I did with mine was I put the radio in the map pocket, by losening the screws but that ment there was a gap around the thickness of my finger so I drew around the cb and cut the hole and fits pefectly now and as said earlier just tapped in to the light circuitthen earthed to one of the bolts holding the light in

yeah mines an old school one ( cobra soundtracker 80 ch ) great rig but a bit too big to put in places without damaging anything to make it fit and my mates is a newish midland with the buttons on te mic aswell is the rig and very slim when i get one will fit it where you have fitted yours, i have measured it and it looks like it will go in without to much messing about :p

yeah go for it mate CB I have is a Midland Alan 121 that has the up and down on the mic aswell good radio

or yu can fit it on th etop of the dash - between the grab handle and the instrument binnacle.

yeah i did put it there loosly ( cobra ) just to see what it was like but i didn't really like it there so i think i will go for the map pocket idea as with the up and down buttons on the mic ( midland ) i won't need to look at the set as much.

yes yu will - coz when yu grab the mic - its easy to press one of them buttons. find yu been transmitting on 1 or 2 channels away from ehat yu thought  which yu dont realise until yu think "its a bit quiet lately".

how do I know?
