I've repaired the crankshaft and done the timing and fitted new damper pulley and refitted the radiator and intercooler.

When I took off the rad I had to remove the two metal pipes on the left ( oil cooling ). This area was filled with oil and some oil ran out of the bottom hole before I could bodge it. Some more dribbled out today when I pulled out the bodge ( rag ) to refit the pipe.

So this area has lost some oil ... not much ... half a cup? So do I need to refill that? What oil do I use?

Cheers

Many thanks

I got today to the point where I had the timing case back on ... the new damper pulley on. Rad and intercooler back in place then it was virtually dark.

A Land Rover owner from the next street came around and suggested that I try starting the engine before it went dark.

So I tried it. I was a bit worried as there was no coolant in it and the pipes from the air filter to turbo and intercooler to inlet manifold were off. I had to prime via the lift pump as it had been sitting and not started for about 4 weeks.

It turned over but wouldn't start for a few minutes. It then started and ticked over but didn't really respond to any revs. I'll get it all put back fully tomorrow and try again.

After all your work,I am amazed you tried starting it with no coolant in.The ally head heats up quick-tickover for a few secs maybe, but don't try and rev it
