bergen tools are good are they?,they're normally sold by some dodgy pikey in a maestro van, they are ****e and you are sadly deluded if you think otherwise.

facom bought out britool a few years ago,

for my money i would get either
hand tools:
SNAP-ON
MAC
BRITOOL (actualy better quality than there parent company)
for big stuff like welders go for sealey
grinders go for makita, hitachi, or metabo
drills go for makita, de-walt or ryobi
air tools go for INGERSOL RAND, SNAP-ON (not blueprint as its just overpriced ingersol rand) or CP
toolboxes go for either SNAP-ON (like i have :D) (not blueprint) or MAC (the MACsimizer range is the bollocks but very expensive)

lookin at yur solitary email slaggin off bergen tools, and all the others recommending em,yu are the one sadley deluded!

SNAP-ON are way over priced for what you get your paying for the name ! any one who thinks if you break a snap-on spanner, socket ect you will be given a new one your in for a shock cos you aint getting squat. they will say it has been abused/misused. the lifetime garentee ONLY covers manufacturing defects not damage from abuse.
i have a lot of britool and they are brilliant, facom again are brilliant. as for power tools de walt are the industrial side of black and decker and although they aint to bad i dont like black and decker. personally i dont think you can beat bosch power tools for reliabilty and value.
sealey is over priced machine mart stuff from china. for air tools you cant beat chicargo pnematics (CP) or broomwade.
cheap tools are ok for throwin about but quality is worth paying for if you want tools that will last.

that depends on how well you get on with yer snap-on man, i have had sockets replaced by them, and draw fronts on me roll cab

bosch stuff is ok but i have had a few problems with a couple of bits from them that has put me off

too be honest the best spanners i own you can no longer get, they are a set of elora metric spanners and are about 20 years old

Brother has loads of snapon tools and he never had a problem exchanging em if he fooked em up. I snapped the knuckle on a 2ft snapon bar and they gave me a replacement knuckle & pin for it, without even asking me how it broke.

ye elora and gedore, very gud spanners.black kamasa wernt too bad.

elora was a good make, i got a few elora spanners and they have taken some real hammer. as for snap-on changing stuff my mate who had motor body services bought some snap-on and the guy refused to change a ratchet that had bust claiming it was abuse not general use. i still reckon its over priced for what it is.

Halfords Pro tool range are bloody good value for money, especially when they're running their frequent promotions.

I got some free screw drivers when I bought some oil for £20 the screwdrivers were worth £20, so a good deal and they have stood some abuse while unscrewing the typically rusty landy screws.

facom were a french company a few years ago dunno if they still are? i pick and choose me sockets etc, some of the halfords bits are good such as breaker bars and big sockets, snap on is good but overpriced. i have some elora bits which have lasted forever! and a couple of sets of teng sockets which i know some people are not so keen on but i've had em years and had a lot of use without a single breakage!
power tools--for reliability and use i will only use makita (v good quality rough around the edges) or dewalt (overpriced but do last pretty well) i've had bosch stuff before but it falls apart:mad:
