Greenlaning in Norfolk/Suffolk/Cambridgeshire

Checked out the drive from Bawsey to Pott Row today past Church Farm landys, up past the old ruins, down the hill and past the pigs wallowing in the sun then past the farmhouse and turn right on to the old Sandy Lane (not used for yonks) track resembles farm track beside field with plowing up to the track edge (farmer's friendly got two waves and Hi's) - nice rolling ruts - won't cause damage then on past the back of Grimston Warren and on past Roydon Common on the left. Nice bit through the trees (few minor scratches from unkempt trees, bushes) through a nice flooded bit (about 1" deep) and then more trees all the way to the back of Cliffen-howe- rd. Sadly Elsegoods (butcher) shuts on a Monday as their meat is very good quality. Worth a visit...
Several other right turns en route but not sure where they go. Rougher green lane starts about 5 mins after going down the hill from the ruins. There's a bend to the right but you just continue up what looks like an overgrown grassy track.

Is the back end of cliffen howe road still really rutted and muddy? Been 6 years since i've been there so its probably changed abit.

If you do the lane again i'd like to come along if you dont mind?

Yeah it's still rutted and muddy and there's part of it flooded now - despite the drought :D
Do plan to do it again and yeah, would be great to have you along.
 
I've done peddars way only a couple of months ago. Some of it was closed off, much of the less used sections were VERY overgrown. It wasn't a bad route, but apart from one of the big holes and the ford, it could probably be done with a normal car. It's very easy. Just bear in mind the extremely overgrown sections.
 
There's a good Byway section from Euston (Norfolk) which i sometimes navigate on way back to Bury from time-to-time.
Head over the bridge at Euston (Honnington direction), about 200yds turn right (sandy track), up a slight incline. This section is approx 2 miles.
When you reach the road turn right and then left (signposted Byway) after approx 300 yds. This section is great especially near end (3m ish), gets quite muddy- good fun.
Re: Peddars way, ive yet to find a good section. Most could be done on a golf buggy.. however i stand corrected if someone knows better..
I'll be heading over the above Euston section saturday (2nd Nov) arvo 12pm ish, if anyone fancies it.

Hi my names Shaun, I'm new to off roading and I'm interested in going greenlaning. I've been for play days and done a lot of sand pits, but to try something different I wanted to know where good places to go are or if anyone would like to come with me as I don't really know anyone from the land rover community.

I'm based in Burwell just north of Cambridge and organise trips every 6 weeks or so with some other guys (some people from Landyzone, some that I know outside the forum).

Where about's are you based? Thetford and Kings Forest have some good lanes that are well signposted, and there are some lanes around Ely and Soham that are ok. I've done some in North Essex - these tend to me more hilly. I think next time we will be heading east out towards Bury....

If you're local to us then feel free to tag along....
 
Anyone about this Sunday (7th)..? Thetford, Brandon, Ely, Soham, Fens, Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds.. Austria.. no hang on that's too far..
 
I know nobody has posted on here for a while but i will be up for some laning if anyone is still up for it. Im in cambridge so not too far away.
 
Ok bud, just be nice to meet up with a few others including yourself as im quite new to this and i dont really want to get stuck when out on my own.
