The car has had a small but annoying oil leak for a while now, and I know this is normal for any Land Rover, especially a V8.
I am fairly sure it is not the rocker covers and I suspect it is the valley gasket seeping front and rear. It seems to be coming from high up anyway.

I have to take the Plenum and inlet manifold off and so drain the coolant, I am also planning an engine oil change at the same time. While I am there I am going to take the rocker covers off too as they are cosmetically in a terrible state and need cleaning back to the metal and repainting.

What I am after is advice on the best order to do all this.
What is the best procedure for the fuel lines and rail?
Anything else I should investigate while this far?

Thanks in advance again folks!

If it aint broke, don't fix it - small leaks is just a bit of self preservation IMO

Just follow the instructions in RAVE. It's all pretty simple as a basic guide remove the plenum, drain coolant, disconnect wires and then remove the rockers/inlet manifold.

It's unnecessary to remove the rail if there's no issues with the injectors. It will just stay put on the intake manifold and come out with that.

The leak is actually more than I implied. It leaves a coating of oil all over the steering, panhard rod and axle. At the rear of the engine it drips down and covers the transmission. A bit of a mess to be honest.

When taking the manifold out with the fuel rail on it... where do you disconnect the fuel line?

On classics I used to swing inlet out of way.

Also small amount of instant gasket in corner of where rubbers sit

There's two pipes on the left hand side at the back when looking at the engine. Closest to the front is the fuel return line and that has a jubilee clip on I think. The fuel pipe is the one at the back and that's just a nut that needs undoing.
