Hi All

The Fuel Pump has gone on my 1995 P38 and was wondering how easy it was to replace it as you've got to drop the tank and could it be done on the jack, axle stands etc, Or is it best done on a ramp.
Also If any of you have replaced this part can you give me any pointers to watch out for if there is any.

Hi All
Found the step by step instructions by Canyon on cutting a hole in the floor to replace the fuel pump and followed them to the tee and it worked perfectly, replaced the pump in about one and half hours but would have been quicker if the unions came off easier, but all done and tested now and only at a mere cost of £50 for a pump.
Many Thanks to Canyon for the priceless instructions.

I did it the hard way on mine - it's not a pleasant job but it's not that hard...

watch out for corroded fuel pump fittings, The fittings were that badly rusted on mine that no amount of WD40 / time would release them.. They rounded off in the end... If this happens it's a tank off job to sort the fuel lines out anyway.. I cut through the metal crimping on my pipes to release the rubber bit and replaced it with some rubber fuel pipe and jubilee clips.. Much cheaper than a new pipe..

I did the job on axle stands in the garage, if you decide to do it this way around be aware that the tank is huge, you'll need to get one side really high to get the tank out and the filler neck pipe is a ******* to get off. I had to cut it and replace it.!
