It's makes like a electrical weird buzzing noise and the m & s are flashing also my hazards too? Thankyou for reply.
Check if you didnt push accidentally the hazard switch and if you didnt but the hazards keep flashing push the inertia switch(behind the engine on the bulkhead, see pic), eventually check to be well connected, unlock once with the fob and try to start it then, if you have a charger connect it to the battery and let it charge few hours cos low voltage is another factor

Surely you mean xyz switches are on automatics :)
Assuming we're talking about a 6HP26 transmission, no. The ZF manual transmission has an X-Y position sensor, located on top of the transmission (and is a pig to change!).

There's nothing serviceable mounted on top of the 6HP26 - unless this is an earlier Discovery....

It's a 4HP22 transmission. TD5 I'm assuming.

The XYZ switch is mounted on the left side of the box about half way down towards the top. If the car has a Cat, it is partially (completely??) obscured by this. Some remove the downpipe/Cat to gain better access.

Good to know but the OP did say XYZ switch not X-Y sensor :)

IMO based on the symptoms it's quite unlikely that the XYZ switch to be the problem here despite of the thread's title... though as long as the M + S are on the best would be to read the code stored in the TCU maybe it leads closer to the answer

I have replaced the xyz switch twice in four years and each time it was faulty the vehicle would still start with no problem, you just couldn't drive anywhere.
First time it failed was on the motorway on the way back from buying it! Fixed itself for a year before failing completely.

Maybe the battery (even though it is new) is knackered or the battery cable connections aren’t tight.
Unless I missed it, do you have a diagnostic tool to check for electrical fault codes?
Where are you located? Maybe another forum member near by can help.

Hi, if you dont have the M+S lights on just a flashing D(watch it better to not be a crossed B) the problem is not with the XYZ switch so you'll work in vain on that... when you say it doesnt start, is it cranking but no "fire" or not cranking at all?

Thankyou my daughters friend just informed me her dad is a mechanic and he lives right round the corner so I'm going to see if he can help at all. I live not far from Derby and burton. Thankyou for your comment.

'Mom'? are you in the US? XYZ sensors are usually on manual transmissions(not common in US), and generally don't prevent the vehicle starting. Fault codes relating to these are usually a symptom of a slipping clutch.
Maybe try a different mobile technician.
The auto has the xyz switch. It can be overhauled. Just take it out, drill out the rivets, open it, clean all the contacts and apply a thin layer of dielectric grease, Vaseline etc and screw it back together using bolts (M6 if memory serves me right). A new switch is like 600 pounds or something. A refurbished one is about half.
