Hi people I've got a p38 and a d reg 90. Both of them are very unstable on motorways, I'm thinking it may be worn shocks? There's no obvious leaking on them though, failing that what do people think it could be, I can cope in the 90 but surely the range shouldnt need constant correction on motorways, it almost feels like there is sideways movement of the axles! Any help much appreciated!

Wandery steering at speed could just be worn steering bits - swivels, track rod ends, steering box etc.

you can check shocks by rocking car quite hard a letting go car shouldnt carry on rocking shocks should damp it,worn bashes and mounts ,but i would definately check the above list first

Check ALL of the bushes on axles. Had similar issues with both my classics. the pan hard bushes were shot as were the radius and trailing arm bushes. Not sure of the setup on body filler models though.
