Good advice - I will pay him a visit - its a lot better but still there. I will also wait a week or so for the ECU to learn the fueling needs

It's booked in on Thursday for a diagnostic in City Electro Diesel Swansea - I spoke with them and they will do a road test and collect live data.

Initially it looked like an injector fault - which most of it was so they suggested testing all 4 on their rig - Bosch approved thingy - however as there is still this miss there they suggested a road test. There is a really good guy there - I saw him diagnosing a problem for someone else while I was there and he was on the ball - so yes fingers crossed.

Took Freelander into City Electro Diesel in Swansea today.

They did a full test on Bosch kit and a road test then came back and said there is nothing wrong with it!!! I was not too happy so drive the guy out - he said it was such a small shimmy and they all do that - those words are a red rag to a bull do told him what I know - then went through the things tested and it seems my engine is a good one all tests past. He suggests I went to an Indy near them.

The Indy guy drive it and then we went through the usual it could be list and finally he said he didn't think it was engine but could be engine mountings !!! Aaaaarrrghhhhh

Ok so this week I will get underneath again and see if I can spot anything.

Is there no one left with a modicum of diagnostic sense - I mean real feel for things mechanical - this electronic test and replace mentality is nuts.

Rant over

Ok today I changed the lower tie bar (engine mounting) - it was worn but not terribly - I got an original LR one.

My wobble is improved but not eliminated. I checked all drive shafts and they seem fine - where next?

Hi everyone - some of you have followed this problem previously when I was chasing more than one problem with similar symptoms - well here is a short update and the wobble on acceleration is still with me.

TD4 3 Door 2003, 100k mls

Ok here's what I have changed.
4 matched Tyres
VCU from Bell fitted by them
Accurately aligned hanger bearings
Front Diff mount
Rear wheel bearing
Rear engine tie rod
All four Injectors out and checked by Bosch Diesel Electrical specialist
Replaced 2 injectors
Full diagnostic - all ok
EGR bypass
BMW crankcase breather
Synergy 2a
Both front drive shafts complete
Complete clutch inc DMF and Slave

Car runs a dream EXCEPT for what can best be described as a shimmy or wobble as you accelerate from a start - noticeable more do as you power through in second gear.

Any ideas? My local garage cannot find it and neither can I - I am pretty good at this stuff but it's really confounded me!

I get a shimmy/slight wobble the same as you in second...not too much of a cause for concern for me.
Only thing left in your arsenal pointing to wobble in 1st/2nd is ya gearbox in my mind..looks like you have comprehensively discounted a lot of other things old bean.

Purple ones are known to wobble. LR mixed red and blue paint together by mistake. ;)
