I have recently aquired an 89 Defender 90. The previous owner has moved the clock from the centre dash to where the battery charging meter goes. I have a spare meter and would like to fit it.
Can anyone tell me:
1. What colour wires should go to the back of the meter?
2. What colour wires should go to the back of the clock?
3. Which fuse supplies the fag lighter? (as its dead)

The wiring might not be standard, old landys have been usually been chopped about.
If your fitting a volt gauge you need to find a 12 volt supply and connect to one terminal(usually marked +) and a ground wire to the other side and the illumination wires are just the same.
The clock will have a constant 12 v supply so this is no good for the volt meter you need an ignition live.

The aux socket is sometimes added to other fuses but usually the same one as the stereo. It is a 15 amp fuse

The fuse for the aux socket is usally the same one that controlls the gauges it is a 15 amp one if that helps to track it down
