typically I can't find the haynes manual and in need of replacing the wiper switch but can't get the bottom cover off the steering column and the switched is locked in.... undone the 2 screws which I thought might be holding it in but can't get to free it... am i missing something?

I have noticed it plugs in by the rotary rotary coupler.... without the manual do I need to disconnect the battery whilst doing this?

I *think* you need to pull the plastic or rubber bezel out round the ignition barrel. Once that's out of the way you should be able to drop the cover down and over the remainder of the ignition barrel. From memory.

Be careful you don't knacker the bits round the barrel, as they seemed a bit delicate when I last had mine apart. Which was a while ago as you can probably tell by my vagueness here:)

That's the only extra bit other than the two screws holding it on tho.
